Hong Kong Disneyland - One of The Disney Parkir

I'm sure some of you may have visited Hong Kong Disneyland. This park is developed on reclaimed land in Penny's Bay, Lantau Island - the first theme park located inside the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The landscape design of the park is unique as to support the strong traditions of Disney storytelling.

The director of Landscape Design of Walt Disney Imagineering, Paul Comstock was the one who scoured the globe for rare tree and plant species for the Hong Kong Disneyland. Lots of Southern China native tree species were used. One of them is the 'Chinese Banyan' or Pokok Ara (scientific name : Ficus microcarpa). The species also common in Malaysia too.
I had the chance to visit Hong Kong Disneyland in 2023. Loads of pics of Disneyland characters ofcourse ;) .....but here are some pics of the plant materials and landscape elements in the park that I want to share with you.

Personally....I loved it !!

This huge tree is one of the native species. It's called Ficus elastica (Rubber Fig)
Massed planting of annuals with contrasting color, different textures, scale, and form create a visually appealing garden. Annuals you can see clearly in the picture : Salvia splendens (Red Salvia) and Tagetes erecta (Yellow Marigold)

The landscape is manicured with topiaries and flowers to match the whimsical setting. Topiary is the art of training plants - shrubs and trees are cut into intricate or decorative shapes and forms, thus adding a playful element to the landscape.
In a nutshell, the landscape of Hong Kong Disneyland has been carefully planned to support its stories.
